The NCdoc add-in component of NCSIMUL MACHINE simulation software from SPRING Technologies, Boston, MA, enables users to automatically document all elements of a machining process and thereby reduce errors and enhance communication within a manufacturing organization.

 

Using data from the final version of the CNC machining program as verified by NCSIMUL MACHINE, NCdoc generates a full machining report with data sheets for tooling and setup characteristics, details of the machining process, operational instructions and checklist information, and dimensional inspection checks including nominal values and associated tolerances.

 

The real-time nature of the documentation enables users to perform in-process checks. Clear presentation and easy access to accurate dimensional and operational information minimizes the possibility of errors resulting from misinterpretation or outdated data. Through the NCSIMUL Player Synchro feature, operators and other personnel can access instructional and other data sheets at the machine in synchronization with the current machining cycle.

 

Users can edit documents in one click, and a smart wizard for data sheet editing features automated input, and collection of machining simulation data including 3D representations and cycle times and cutting conditions.

Because machining processes are continually subject to updates, new releases and changes, NCdoc provides full document life cycle management that eliminates confusion resulting from use of outdated reports and documentation. Data is accessible through a PC or touch tablets, and technical data sheets are available in PDF form or via the simulation software’s NCSIMUL Player feature.

 

NCdoc provides the basis for fulfilling quality program requirements as well as demands for traceability and documentation from manufacturing customers in critical industries including medical, aerospace, and oil and gas. CFO Mats Backman to leave Sandvik

Mats Backman, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, CFO, for Sandvik has decided to leave Sandvik to assume the equivalent position as CFO for the automotive safety supplier Autoliv. He assumes the position no later than 1 June 2016. The process to find a successor has been initiated.

–   I’m grateful for Mats Backman’s contributions and the role that he has played as a key member in the Group Executive Management. Sandvik intends to divest Mining Systems operations

s decided to initiate divestment of the project business Mining Systems.

Mining Systems is a separate product area within Sandvik Mining and a supplier of design and engineering of material handling systems for the mining industry. In 2014 the Mining Systems operations, with 1,300 employees, had annual sales of 6.3 billion SEK representing 7% of Sandvik Group invoicing, and an operating loss was reported at a low single digit level.

“Divestment of Mining Systems will make Sandvik Mining more focused on its core operations, mining equipment and aftermarket offerings for both underground and surface mines, which Sandvik will continue to develop to ensure long term value creation”, says Mats Backman, CFO and acting President and CEO for Sandvik.

As from the third quarter 2015 and until closure of the divestment, Mining Systems operations will be reported as discontinued operations in the Sandvik Group financial statements. Mining Systems will thus be reported as a single amount below the result of continuing operations in the income statement.

A nonrecurring charge of 1 billion SEK related to Mining Systems will impact the result for the third quarter 2015. This includes write-downs related to projects, other provisions for project related costs and impairment within Mining Systems.

H.C. Starck Group realigns Executive Board

Munich (Germany), September 25, 2015. H.C. Starck, one of the world’s leading suppliers of powders and components made of technology metals and advanced ceramics, realigns its Executive Board. As of October 1, 2015, the group with nearly 2,800 employees and 15 production sites worldwide will be led by four Executive Board Members.

Edmar Allitsch, previously Head of the Tungsten Powders division, will take over the sales organization and will focus on the acceleration of the sales activities and strategic key account projects in the tungsten powders business. Dr. Michael Reiss, Chief Technology Officer of the group, will assume the lead of the Tungsten Powders division.

Dr. Reiss will also take over responsibility for the Surface Technology & Ceramic Powders division from Edmar Allitsch. The Advanced Ceramic Components division, previously in the responsibility of CEO Dr. Andreas Meier, will be handed over to Dr. Matthias Schmitz, CFO of the group.

Dr. Andreas Meier continues to be responsible for the Tantalum/Niobium Powders division. The lead of the Fabricated Products division remains unchanged with Dr. Dmitry Shashkov.
